cVein™ gives clinicians the
option to measure CVP in a simple, risk-free procedure,
thus opening up a much wider market for CVP measurement
outside of the Cardiac ICU. Target market segments include:
Emergency
Departments (ED) – The 4,200 EDs in the U.S
have high patient volume (108 million annual visits and
rising). Over 50% of patients that received a catheter
for hemodynamic monitoring are referred from the ED, making
EDs important gateways to other departments. cVein™
will enable quick measurements of CVP for these at-risk
patients without any transfer delay, allow physicians
to see more patients and help alleviate waiting time.
Primary
Care Physicians (PCP) – Approximately 50%
of physician visits are to the 112,000 PCPs in the U.S.,
such as family doctors, who must diagnose patients using
various physiological measurements before referring them
to a specialist. Since PCPs lack the specialized equipment
necessary to perform central venous access procedures,
they will benefit from the ability to measure CVP in a
simple, noninvasive manner using cVein™. Physicians
will be able to bill the procedure to insurance companies
to offset the cost of purchasing an ultrasound machine
and cVein™. Skilled
Nursing Facilities (SNF) – There are 16,000
SNFs in the U.S. that are responsible for the long-term
care of senior citizens and extensively utilize diagnostic
equipment to monitor their residents’ health. The
elderly at SNFs are more vulnerable to chronic heart and
kidney problems, and the population of individuals over
the age of 65 is increasing. This creates a greater demand
for cVein™, which SNFs will purchase to improve
their monitoring capabilities and to provide them with
a competitive edge in the marketplace. |
